At DB Tennis we not only teach the children to be good tennis players but also to develop life skills. We believe in providing a comprehensive tennis background with complete and thorough stroke production as well as the very important psychological aspects of tennis. This is all achieved in a fun and friendly environment.
DB Tennis is owned and operated by David Beniamini who is a successful and respected coach in Canberra because he is doing the job he loves. Yes, David is still passionate about the game of tennis and has endeavoured to share this with all his clients over the last twenty years.
David and his assistant coaches are all accredited TAC Club Professionals with current First Aid and WWVP certification They are constantly furthering their knowledge and appreciation of the coaching industry by attending conferences and seminars on a regular basis.
History
David has been involved in the tennis industry for over 30 years, initially as a junior playing for the ACT & winning the junior championships.
He then represented the ACT in the secondary schools’ championships teaming with Wally Masur in 1978 and a winner of numerous titles, including the secondary schools’ championship, Griffith, Wangaratta and the ACT. David then played professionally on the Challengers Circuit in 1983 & 1984 having success in winning doubles tournaments and finishing runner-up in a number of singles tournaments. David also had international coaching experience whilst working at Vanderbilt Racquet Club and Racquets Indoor Tennis Centre, London and Witte-Wille Tennis Club, Antwerp.
After returning to Australia, David completed a 3-year Diploma in Architectural Drafting and worked in the industry for eighteen months whilst still actively coaching and playing in the ACT. Eventually, David’s love of tennis and desire to pass on his expertise persuaded him back into full-time coaching. He established DB Tennis in 1991 and coached at various venues including ANU, Hyatt Hotel, Forrest Tennis Club, Barton Tennis Club, Manuka Tennis Club and many schools in the ACT.
David has nurtured some of his top juniors to international levels including Oliver Mayo, ACT Open Champion, top 6 under 18 Australian Juniors, number 1 player for Virginia Tech and career-high ranking of #641, Damien Ward ACT Open Champion, no1 player Brigham Young University and doubles ranking of #420 and also trained Alison Bai and Alexandra Nancarrow in their junior years.
